Tavia from a young age always had a love for beauty, magazines and videos.
She started amassing a personal makeup collection and doing the makeup of friends and family just for the love of doing makeup. Fast forward to when a makeup artist canceled on a family members video shoot, she was asked to do makeup. It was this shoot that ignited her passion for the beauty industry, she attended the Empire Beauty School to learn proper sanitation and protocols for a new career. Even while learning all about makeup artistry from the greats of makeup, Sam Fine, Renny Vasquez & Merrell Hollis she was intrigued by the skin underneath.
While freelancing as a makeup artist she embarked on learning about skin to help the clients that sat in her makeup chair. To further her knowledge, she enrolled in NYIB Esthetics program to become a NYS Licensed Esthetician. While enrolled she began to focus on the skin of the beauties around her and their specific skincare needs. She also noticed that a one to three fits all philosophy was not wholly addressing the melanin skin types she was seeing. It was during school and after that she began her laser focus on darker skin types and the connection of what was happening to the mind and in the body to what was showing up on the skin.
Through her journey through the world of beauty, she observed the need of clients with melanated skin to have targeted skincare and services that provided amazing results. Skincare that utilized ingredients as close to and as natural as possible while also using the best technology to treat and foster the best skin of a client’s life.
Tavia’s approach to whole body wellness, comes from her experience with clients in both the makeup chair and the spa bed. She has the experience of clients taking that one on one time to share, vent, and discuss their lives, thoughts and personal issues. Tavia believes in helping clients to be mentally and physically well.
She prides herself on her quest for knowledge by investing in continuing education courses, trainings and certifications in new treatments and methods. She knows that knowledge is key to be the best esthetician she can be and providing the best services to her clients.
She is certified in Peels, Microdermabrasion, Treating Darker Fitzpatrick’s, Dermaplaning, Microneedling, LED Light Therapy, Acne Specialist, CPR Certified and Certified in Pigmentation Disorders.
